📅 Day 11 – Stem-Changing Verbs in Present Tense

Today, we’ll cover e → ie, o → ue, and e → i stem changes, focusing on verbs like poder (to be able), querer (to want), and preferir (to prefer).

🧠 PART 1: e → ie Stem-Changing Verbs

In these verbs, the e in the stem changes to ie in certain forms.

Common e → ie Verbs:

  • querer (to want)

  • tener (to have)

  • empezar (to begin)

  • preferir (to prefer)

  • entender (to understand)

Conjugation Example: querer (to want)

Common o → ue Verbs:

  • volver (to return)

  • almorzar (to have lunch)

  • jugar (to play)

  • servir (to serve)

  • pedir (to ask for)

  • repetir (to repeat)

  • competir (to compete)

Example Dialogue:
