DAY-6 FOR SPANISH CHALLENGE

📅 Day 6 – Present Tense of Regular Verbs (El Presente de los Verbos Regulares)

🧠 PART 1: Regular Verb Groups Overview

In Spanish, all verbs in their base form (infinitive) end in either:

  • -ar → hablar (to speak)

  • -er → comer (to eat)

  • -ir → vivir (to live)

Each group follows a consistent pattern when conjugated in the present tense.

📌 Present Tense = Actions happening now or regularly

Examples:

  • Yo estudio español → I study Spanish

  • Ella vive en España → She lives in Spain

  • Nosotros comemos pizza → We eat pizza

🧩 PART 2: Conjugation Rules

Remove the ending (-ar, -er, -ir), then add the correct endings based on the subject (yo, tú, él, etc.)

📘 A. -AR verbs → Example: hablar (to speak)

SubjectEndingVerb: hablar
yo-ohablo
-ashablas
él/ella-ahabla
nosotros-amoshablamos
vosotros-áishabláis
ellos-anhablan

🍽️ B. -ER verbs → Example: comer (to eat)

SubjectEndingVerb: comer
yo-ocomo
-escomes
él/ella-ecome
nosotros-emoscomemos
vosotros-éiscoméis
ellos-encomen

🏡 C. -IR verbs → Example: vivir (to live)

SubjectEndingVerb: vivir
yo-ovivo
-esvives
él/ella-evive
nosotros-imosvivimos
vosotros-ísvivís
ellos-enviven

🔍 PART 3: Quick Grammar Notes

  • You don’t need the subject pronoun because the verb ending shows who is acting:

    • Hablo español = I speak Spanish (yo is optional)

    • Comes pan = You eat bread

  • The present tense also expresses:

    • Current actions: Leo un libro (I’m reading a book)

    • Habitual actions: Estudio cada día (I study every day)

📝 PART 4: Practice Sentences

Translate to Spanish:

  1. I speak Spanish.

  2. She eats fruit.

  3. We live in India.

  4. You (informal) study every day.

  5. They work a lot.

✅ Answers:
